Hello Windows Vista Forums,

I would like to upgrade my Random Access Memory (RAM). I am thinking to put 2GB RAM cards into my machine. I have a small problem though. I don't know what type of memory my I should put into my machine. I own a Alienware Area 51 7500. Here are the system specs:

System Manufacturer/Model Number Alienware

Size: 250GB
PSU CoolerMaster 1000

If anyone can reccomend a type of RAM for machine and where to purchase for a good reliable price, that would be fantastic! All help is appreciated! Thanks!

Pretty sure you'll be good with 240 pin DDR2 modules. Best to install in pairs, so keep that in mind. While newegg isn't guaranteed to give you the best price, they've always been reliable wherever I am in the world when it comes to shipping.

Newegg.com - Computer Hardware,Memory,Desktop Memory,240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM

Those are the modules for your board sorted by rating. I personally have Mushkin brand in my tower, but I'm not partial to any brand. Check out the reviews. Maybe someone else here has the same mobo as you and can offer some first hand experience on what you should get. Good luck.

Also for future reference

http://www.crucial.com/

You can go there and find the proper ram size/timings and then use that info to do a search on newegg or your favorite shopping site.

According to them here's the ram you need (http://www.crucial.com/store/listparts.aspx?model=AREA-51 7500)

Package: 240-pin DIMM
Feature: DDR2 PC2-5300

Like I said, I'm not really partial to any brands and I haven't built a system since 2008, Networking is more or less my thing. That being said based purely off reviews

This seems like a solid 2GB kit
Newegg.com - G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F2-6400CL5D-2GBNQ - Desktop Memory

The 4GB kit from the same company with great reviews
Newegg.com - G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F2-6400CL5D-4GBPQ - Desktop Memory

I hardly know everything about timings and such with memory, so maybe someone with a little more knowledgeable can come along and clear things up. And as far as giving you a hard time, I willingly admit my people skills are less hit then they are miss. Cheers

according to your specs, you already have 8gigs of memory. i dont think you will see any performance boost by adding more (if you can).
