Windows Vista Dissapoints me and many others

    Hello Windows Vista Forums,

Going on this excellent forum as made me realized something. Something that I've even heard from the Microsoft Corporation recently. Windows Vista really isn't that great of an Operating System. Microsoft Corporation even says that Vista was not how they hoped it would be. In my opinion Vista will be outdated earlier than XP.

Have people really ecountered this many problems on XP? I'm sure XP had its fair share of problems and bugs but this many! No, not at all. Windows 7 is said to make Vista as it should have been.

Here is proof that Vista is frankly worse than XP. Look at this Forum. Look at how many problems people are having with Vista. Whether it be compatibility or bugs look how many problems Vista has generated! None of you can deny this...I know people will respond and argue at this, but you really can't can you.

Microsoft's goal was to take XP and make it better. They have failed with Vista. Windows 7 will pass Vista by and Vista will be outdated earlier than XP.

Even on the news you hear it. I heard TODAY on the date of July 13 2009 on Bloomberg 1130 that Vista was a huge BOMB for the Microsoft Corporation, and how dissapointing it was worldwide!

I would advise everybody that currently uses any other OS besides Vista...DONT BUY IT! It's a waste of money!!! Wait for Windows 7, that OS will set things right!

    Regards,

Okay, first off I agree with your post...somewhat.

Sure Vista was uber-terrible when it came out, apps we're incompatible not to mention driver support wasn't the best but that's mostly the manufacturer's fault for not getting ready.

In my experience the only driver issue I encountered was with my Lexmark X8350 Printer. Lexmark released a Vista driver back in 2007...2007! It was first off an incompatible driver that refused to work in a Vista environment, again, that's Lexmarks fault for not making a working one. To date...2009, that is the only driver released. Back from 2007.

When I bought my first Vista PC I was constantly getting Blue screens left and right and it was caused by my Phenom processor having a TLB-bug in one of the cache levels that caused a 20-30 % loss of performance and blue screens, again, that WAS AMD's fault, until Microsoft patched Vista and caused incompatibilities with the Phenom processor.

After SP2, Vista is a solid OS from me. I have used the betas and the RC for a total of about 4 months and Vista boots and shuts down in the same time as 7. Probably because I have a mid to high range computer, (biggest help is the Quad-Core).

All in all I believe that Vista is actually pretty good given that you bother to install the 2 service packs (just like XP), and that the whole "DON'T BUY VISTA" thing is overdone now. As I said, even though Vista had it's faults, you can't give Manufacturers a free ride.

Plus if you buy a Vista PC you'll get a free 7 upgrade. Something I'll probably be doing soon because it's 2 OS's for the price of 1.

    Hi dbsantos77,

Hi most definitely agree, but XP didn't have as many issues. That whole buy a new PC with Vista and get a free 7 upgrade is good...but I'd save up for newer PC parts so I can improve performance on my machine and get it ready for Windows 7!
    Most very knowledgeable though!

The fact you argue Vista is bad because people post problems on this forum makes me question how you would say any OS is good. There are hundreds if not thousands of forums to all sorts of OSes on the internet, nothing is going to work perfectly out of the box for everyone. Then to say no one can deny it, you're not making a point to begin with.

I don't think you could have been using a computer when XP came out, because people complained about XP when it came out. There are plenty of people running Vista that have no issues, and they will only see minimal differences in the actual underlying OS when/if they upgrade to Seven. Have you even tried seven yet?

Definitely, I know for a fact XP didn't have such a hard time but you have to remember that with Vista Microsoft change many many things with the kernel, explorer, and other components but they we're so careless that they rushed the product out instead of working on it for a bit more.

Basically Microsoft had a genius OS idea back then, but didn't take their time. Same with their Xbox 360 but that's a different story. Hey wait that makes me wonder...
    Is there a pattern????

Microsoft releases new product->product released to public->critical issues arise for consumers->consumers extremely angry with product->Microsoft fixes critical issues.

I don't know why people always say such negative things about Vista. It's not the OS the problem, it's the user!

Ok, sometimes it's the OS, but if the computer is not made for Vista, why upgrade to Vista?

Take my own experience for example: My computer came with Windows XP. Yet, I kept having programs freezing and never really had viruses. I even had a few blue screens on XP. I then decided to upgrade gradually my computer, until at arrived at the specs I have now. I still had some crashing and freezing.

I have then installed Vista Ultimate x64 to use all the resources my computer could give me. I was really pleased with it, performance wise and the eye candy side. I have used Vista for 5 months now and have yet to have a freeze or a crash. I only encountered one BSOD, and it was my own fault for trying to use more resources than the computer could give me (had filled my RAM and pagefile). I guess that's what too much multitasking can do.

On my computer, Vista is twice the speed XP was (I tried Vista x32 too, just the time I could go without activating, to try it).

Now, most people I talk to in college or other places also say that Vista works better on their computer that came With Vista but doesn't work well for those that upgraded from XP.

Can you explain what happened to me?

I dont know if your trying to be sarcastic but my computer was built for vista and I have upgraded this computer. New Power supply to replace the crap 300w, new ATi Radeon 4670 to replace ATi Radeon 2400, stuff like that.

I agree 110% with the User's fault statement, but see, that's why many users decide to go with a Mac, because it just WORKS, and most of the time there's no need to get down and dirty to figure out problems. I for one like to get down and dirty, and I like learning new things to fix Microsoft's screw ups.

I like to get down and dirty too :P. That's why the only reason I would buy a mac is just to try out their OS, nothing more. Most of the chances are I'm not going to pay more for a computer just to try their OS :P

Fair enough, I actually had an opportunity to work on a Mac a little bit, and I liked it. Anyways before we turn this into a PC v MAC thread those are my takes on Vista. As I said I like it a lot, also like 7's new UI overhaul, but I'll stick with Vista for now
I'm sure Windows 7 will have it's share of problems, then we'll hear "Ugh, darn MS for making another bomb OS, boo", just wait

Some people have some problems with some OS.
Some people have no problems with some OS.

Some people believe all they read about OS being good or bad.
Some people believe some of what they read about OS being good or bad.
Some people believe none of what they read about OS being good or bad.

Some people do a lot of "homework" before getting a new OS.

I've been impressed with my edition of Vista. But then it came preloaded on a computer that could handle it easily /successfully.
