| vista ultimate x64 | vista64 crashes after long period of shutdown Anyone, I have a HP AMD 64 phenon quad core 6gig ram nvidia 8600 512mb graphics card, using windows vista 64 bit ultimate. Issue: Everytime I power down my PC for any length of time IE vernight. When I power the PC back on it starts to boot up then just before it gets into windows i experience a crash dump screen(Blue screen of Death), and then it want to boot up in safe mode. I have tried everything possible to correct this and I am looking for more help on this in any way possible. Other then this small issue everything else is working great. Just hate leaving the PC on all the time to avoid seeing the crash duump screen over and over. |

| Vista Ultimate x64; Win 7 x64 and x32 | Re: vista64 crashes after long period of shutdown Please tell us exactly where in the boot process that you get the BSOD. Does the Windows splash screen show up, does the logon page show up? Also, please navigate to C:\Windows\Mindump, zip up the files there and upload the .zip file in your next post. If you can't zip them up there, copy them to your Desktop and try it there. |

| vista ultimate x64 | Re: vista64 crashes after long period of shutdown I was looking into that file folder of C:\Windows\Mindump and it shows that the file is empty. Is there any where else to look for issues or better yet causes of my crash |

| Vista Ultimate x64; Win 7 x64 and x32 | Re: vista64 crashes after long period of shutdown You can also look for a file named MEMORY.DMP in the C:\Windows folder. If it's there, post back so we can give further directions (it's too big to upload here). Check to see if your pagefile is larger than your RAM. To do this, check your RAM size in the System applet in Control Panel. To check the pagefile size, enable the viewing of hidden and system files and check the size of PAGEFILE.SYS in the C:\ directory. Here's instructions on how to set your system to make minidumps: Change dump file location & size to Minidumps - Vox |
