The operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer

I have seen many comments on the net about a problem when clicking on hyperlinks in Outlook email or tables in Word, a message comes up "The operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer" I have admin rights and have tried all sorts to find out why this is happening without success.

Does any know how to correct this. If so I would be most grateful.

Thx Jim

Maybe first try this:How do I restore security settings to the default settings?

The restore of security settings didn't work, I am just backing up data and creating a restore point and will try the outlook.reg...will let you know how I get on. Thx Jim

Thanks for the outlook.reg but that didn't work either.....I have only had windows vista a few months and have to say I hate it!

I have heard so many bad things about MS but never experienced any thing really bad but since I changed computers it crashes daily, normally with Outlook, and then these glitches that no one can seem to fix really ****s me.....the other things that ****s me is that I never made any disc's of Vista to reinstall......any idea's how I can do that without picking up all the issues that I currently have.

Ok..I have fixed it...and perhaps have the solution for the other who face this problem.

I previously tried Google Chrome didn't think it was that great so removed it....I have reinstalled and hey presto....the links in Outlook work.

Google Chrome obviously does something when installing and once removed give you problems. Thanks Google!

In regards to burning Vista reinstall disks from your recovery partition ,
they won't pick up any issues of your current install. Instruction may vary
depending on OEM.

On Compaq/HP --- Click on:

Start > All Programs > PC Help & Tools > Recovery Disk Creation

Then " Follow the Wizard ".

By default you're allowed to make only one set.
Will need at least two single layer DVDs writable.

Best of Luck.
