My wife's desktop, wouldnt run aero by default (Graphics card score 2.3),but there there is a way to activate it anyways

  1. Right-click an empty space on your desktop and select Personalize.
  2. Click Window Color and Appearance in the Personalization window.
  3. Click Open classic appearance properties for more color options.
  4. Select Windows Vista Aero under Color Scheme.

Well your using ultimate, but might give this a try.
Enable Vista Aero in Windows Vista Home Basic

Normally it appears after installing drivers for your graphics card (if supported)
So I would install/update it if I were you.

Perhaps I wasnt clear, I do not have the Aero option under that menu, just Vista Basic and Classic and other stuff

Try a sfc/scannow

That option should be there in Ultimate whether or not your hardware has a recommended WEI or not. (A GPU 2.3 score will run it). If it isnt, sounds like you may have Windows corruption, and you may need to reinstall Vista.

If the system file check fails, perform a disk check.
for more info on how to do this:

ps- simply copy/paste sfc/scannow (instead of defrag c: -w)

in Home Basic you will never have Vista Aero to choose -you can only choose Vista Standard -in Home Basic aero effect is limited

Not really, I score in at 4.8 but aero still won't appear until I install nvidia drivers for my 8800.

Check in Services whether "Themes" and "Desktop Window Manager" services are set to start Automatically.

Hi yop824,

Sorry, but your graphics card does not meet the minimum requirements for AERO.

Since everything about Vista is stored on ur computer there has to be a way around the check, and that is what im asking for, I hate my computer :(

Sorry, but the only way would be to change your graphics card for one that is DX9 (or greater) compliant. It would help if you provided more information on the hardware of your system - are you using built-in graphics or a card and what sort of graphics slot have you got? I am thinking along the lines of AGP 4x or possibly even PCI given the graphics adapter you are using.

Think of this analogy using a CD (your current graphics appearance) and DVD (the appearance you want, i.e. with AERO). Representing your graphics card is a CD drive. Both CDs and DVDs are the same physical dimension, so they both fit in the drive. However, the hardware of the drive is only capable of reading CDs.
