Problems and Solutions - Need help on problem solving.

What bad, bad,habit?

I am consistently being plagued with problems in my Host Process for Windows Service and from two different sources in the Wdi Service Host. These are all the source for constant ongoing and automatic reporting to MS.

Here are examples of the more recent Problem Events that have happened;

Current Status;

A.Problem Reports Status - 25Jul09 Forum.JPG

For the Wdi Service problems, if I manually check for solutions to these, the same old "No new solutions found - Please check...etc", is advised.

The problem with the Host Process for Windows Service, is more perplexing and I will deal with that first.

......and the Solution?

C.Problem Report 1 - Information.JPG

What makes this a perplexing "Problem", is that I do not have this scanner installed, and nor does it appear in Device Manager. However, I do have an Epson Perfection V300 Photo scanner connected via a v2.0 USB, and that doesn't appear in the Device Manager either.

As I see it, the "Problem" is being generated out of something that does not exist. That said, how do I now resolve the problem, once and for all? What do I need to do to be rid of it? I can't disable, uninstall or delete it from the Device Manager, since it does not appear. Nor does it show in the Control Panel under Scanners and Cameras.

I need to know if there is an easily understood method by which I can take steps to resolve these problems myself. I know nothing about Bucket IDs, Locale IDs, etc. etc., or even just how or where to start to troubleshoot the problems. However, before I cleaned out the Problems and Solutions history of these two Wdi Service Host sources, both had had in excess of 120 Problem Reports sent.....and to me, that's a problem.

You will also see that these two instances have happened almost simultaneously.

My poor old grey matter is turning black, and the air a deeper shade of blue.....but finally, what is the Wdi Service Host, and what part does it perform in the system?

Windows Diagnostic Infrastructure (WDI) is a collection of diagnostic tools that can help find the source of many common disk, memory and network problems. In addition, it can warn you of impending failures so you can either react to fix them, or at least save your data while you can. The Diagnostic Service Host works with Diagnostic Policy Service (dps) as a component of WDI

Found somewhere,

And u we can disable these two services if u wish.

Uninstall the Xerox stuff using the free Revo Uninstaller: Revo Uninstaller Freeware - Uninstall Software, Remove Programs, Solve uninstall problems

Test to ensure it stops the errors, then download a fresh copy from the Xerox stuff and install it.

Therein lies the source of my perplexity! So far as I can determine, I have nothing within my system that is even remotely related to Xerox software etc.

I've just done a full report using Belarc Advisor, and the only location that could possibly be interpreted as being of Xerox origins is here;

Belarc Advisor Printer detail.JPG

......that is of course if you interpret "XPS" as being Xerox Printer Scanner, which I believe is highly unlikely.

So what choice am I left with? Should I delete the so-called problem driver file, or just delete the phantom 'fix[?]' from Problems and Solutions, and hope that it will stay away?:huh:

This is the problem: Problem Reports and Solutions has stoped working or I have one. I can not get it to do anything except change settings. I can not get it to bring up problems to check or view the history. Checked services and that look ok but then what do I know. Screenshot enclosed:

Every once in a while a fellow gets lucky. The program is working and as near as I can figure the no response was due to no problems were stored in the report and solutions. I had a warning on the screen that AVG Core had stoped and was closed so I opened up the P & S program and there it was. I was able to do all the tasks listed in the left plane. So happy for now.

I noticed in one of your 1st screen shots the NTSTATUS exception code 0xc0000005 = memory access violation. Is there a firewall installed?

Well that did not last for long the application has stoped working again. It will not let me view any problembs or solutions. Refer to post above for more information. Well at least it never did give me any solutions to the problems so it won't be missed a whole lot BUT I like for it to be working so any ideas.

Is there a 3rd party firewall installed?

Did the system come with a trial version Internet Security product like NIS, N360, KIS, MIS, etc... that you either declined or accepted during that very 1st bootup?

Ok I got the answer for me. It is my 2009 TuneUp Utilities progran that I renewed. When you run free up disk space it shows you the restore points, windows functions, error reports etc. You must remove the check mark on error reports by clicking on it or it will wipe out the Problem & Solutions entries. So if your having a simlar problem check your applications that you have installed for cleanup, tuneup etc.
