Solved Windows Aero Does not work

Hi, new here and little experience with computers. I bought a new HP IQ524 touchscreen and transferred my laptop files to it. I'm running windows vista home premium 64 with directx10. Somewhere along the line Vista Aero stopped working. Now when I click onto appearance settings, the appearance box is black and the color scheme box is blank. I tried downloading service pack 2, updating my drivers and attempting a system restore, but nothing has worked. I think something might be wrong with my graphics settings, because when I right click on the desktop and select graphics properties, I get a intel graphics media box which has the primary device listed as a laptop, and I can't figure out how to change it. Any help getting Aero to work would be appreciated.

Hi kmwvma.......;)

what's the GFX setup you have..?? (ATI Nvidia), & which drivers are you running..??

does the device manager list your GFX card..??

i'd uninstall the GPU drivers completely, reboot, enter ''safe mode'', reinstall the drivers & then reboot again....

the system should automatically fire up Aero, if it does not i'd say its an OS problem & its not H/W related....

has it ever worked since you've had the touchscreen..??, it may be incapable of running Aero..??

Thank you Skunksmash - I reinstalled service pack 2, then removed the graphics driver and re-installed the driver and that fixed it. Appreciate the help.
