Solved Recycling bin problem

I use Vista home premium but I've only had it for a few days.
Anyway, the problem is that my recycling bin automatically deletes any files I put into it so I tried to change he setting but when the property window for it pops up the only thing I can change is to "display delete confirmation dialog".
So I attempted to delete it and make another icon using the personalize trick but the recycling bin icon won't delete.

Also, I can't make new folders using the right click. Under NEW is empty and nothing else. I'm confused as to why this happens.

if you're putting all that in there. Your recycling bin can only hold so much than it will automatically delete files... think before you put something in there. that's all i have for you, sorry.

Thats not it, my recycling bin is empty so even if I put in a picture that is less than 1mb it still deletes it but thanks anyway...I guess.

I've tried it both manually and with the download but it doesn't work,
With the download it says it has an error accessing the registry.

I tried to use the context menus downloads twice and it didn't work either time.

But thanks for trying to help.

In that case, you might see if doing a System Restore using a restore point dated before you had these problems may be able to fix it for you.

If not or instead, you might create a new administrator account and see if it works ok in it as a test.

The recycle bin is part of the Theme. Sometimes it helps to change the theme back and forth. Right click on the desktop > Properties > Theme > switch to another theme > then switch back to the theme you had before.
