| Vista Ultimate x64 | WPG not displaying B&W images correctly Hello. I have an issue with Windows Photo Gallery and viewing black & white images. The problem I am having is the white parts of the image seems to have an almost light blueish tint, and the black parts look like they were done using dark blue ink. The thumbnail for the image, as well as opening it in paint and opening it in slideshow displays the image correctly. So far, I attempted to fix this problem myself by changing my ICC profile in the color management settings multiple times, even rebooting my pc for some of the changes, as well as uninstalling my monitor drivers, with unsuccessful results. I do not know if this is an issue with my OS, my monitor, or my video card. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Last edited by Dwarf; 07-26-2009 at 04:11 PM.. |

| Vista home premium 64 bit | Re: WPG not displaying B&W images correctly Upload a copy of the image. Is the amage actually black and white? The reason I am asking this is because some images that are supposed to be black and white do have a small amount of colour. In paint there i a tool for removing colour try that. Have you got the monitor set at the correct resolution and is the picture set to display the image full size? Antialias may be another reason for the colour, turn it off. |

I can assure you that the original image is supposed to be black and white. As per your request, I will upload a desktop image of a black and white image I recently downloaded from the internet. Hopefully you will see what I am talking about. |

| Vista Home Premium 32-bit & Vista Ultimate 64-bit both Service Pack 2 W7 Pro RTM 7600 32 & 64 | Re: WPG not displaying B&W images correctly Check your monitor settings, in particular its colour temperature (see the monitor manual for details on adjusting this). I can't see anything obvious with the image you posted, but it might help if we knew where you downloaded it from so that we can download it ourselves in order to compare it with your image. |

| Vista Home Premium 64bit SP2 | Re: WPG not displaying B&W images correctly so the issue is with only one program? we know that games and certain programs will run their own colour profile i wonder if WPG does this to make photo images seem brighter/warmer? That said a blue tint suggests a cooler colour temperature. so you have your monitor set to 6500k? could you check this just to make sure , some lcd monitors dont have a 6500k setting but their "graphics" profile is usually pretty close. one way to check for sure is to use your graphics card control panel to alter the gamma of the image (while you have the image open) if the image alters then you'll know WPG doesnt have a set profile , you can then use your GPU settings to get WPG correct then apply to lock it , then alter your monitor settings so the rest of your programs are correct if the image doesnt alter in WPG then its an issue with the program havein a locked colour profile and there isnt alot you can do about that i dnt think |

Did not fix the problem. I also adjusted the gamma settings in my video card control panel, and it did not make a difference with the tint. It is very likely that my color profile got screwed up for whatever reason, and it looks like I'm stuck with it, since deleting all my color profiles did not make a difference. At the most, I will probably do a system restore back to a much earlier time, hopefully at a time where my color profile didn't screw up. If this doesn't work, then I guess I'll just have to live with it. Anyway, thanks trying to help, guys. If anyone has another solution that hasn't been tried yet, please let me know. I would appreciate it. |
