HP Boot Sector

I've been trying to install First Defense-ISR Rescue on this computer and it won't install, it gets a -11 code and quits. The code means This means the boot sector is not a standard Windows boot sector. I have Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit. My question is, if I remove the Recovery Partition D will this change the boot sector. I have factory backup DVD's and made my own DVD's, plus I have a TI image of the drive so I'm OK in that department.

Re: HP Boot Sector

I'd see if First Defense has a forum of its own. You may be able to get advice from someone who has actually done it with that product.

Re: HP Boot Sector

I wouldn't expect removing the recovery D: drive using the OEM utility to
affect the boot sector.

If your boot sector needs repair this fix from Microsoft might be useful.

Windows Vista no longer starts after you install an earlier version of the Windows operating system in a dual-boot configuration

Hope this helps.

Re: HP Boot Sector

The boot sector doesn't need repair. Hp just used a non standard boot sector.
