It looks like a Control Key Mouse Pointer option available in Home Premium.
Ultimate may have that as an option for Mouse-Down.

Go to Mouse Options thru Control Panel.

I've gone through all the setting for cursors and pointers and mouse effects. That one you mentioned is for finding the cursor by using the Control key and has an entirely different effect. I get this effect every time I click on anything. Have no idea where it's coming from and I've been searching for hours to find an answer. Does anyone else get the water drop effect when they click. Oh I forgot to mention I use a Wacom tablet. The effect is only when using the pen. The Wacom has no setting for effects.

Can't believe I forgot to mention that one. Doh!

Found it. It's a weird Vista thing. Under Control Panel/Pen and Input Devices, there's a tab for Pointer Options. It has the water drop effect by default. Just unchecked it. How dumb, like I need a visual clue to tell me if I'm tapping my pen.

Thanks for replying though.
