Start bar freezes repeatedly

I had a list of error messages from the time this issue started until however, I'm not sure what I did with the others but anyway...
My start bar keeps freezing over and over again, I am asked to close program and it will close and restart again...it's getting irritating and might be getting worse because sometimes it will do it 2 to 3 times in a row....

I have Windows Vista Home Basic
