Vista Partitioning XP created partitions.

I just started running Vista Ultimate 64bit. I had a copy of Windows XP Pro, and I created all my partitions in that, when I upgraded I just formatted my drive C and installed Vista.

I was told that I should not partition any drives that have partitions created in XP or earlier systems because it will cause the data to corrupt, due to the way Vista deals with the sectors of the hard drive. Is there any truth to this?

Since you formatted the drive before Vista install, there should be no problem.

What if I wanted to re-partition part of the drive in Vista, will that screw any of the other XP made partitions up?

I may have misunderstood. I thought you had made a clean sweep format which
would eliminate the XP partitions.

How many partitions do you have currently?

I currently have 3 partitions on my drive.

1 partition I re-formated for my new Vista Drive C. The other 2 are partitions that were created in XP.

If I wanted to delete a partition to split it into 2 separate partitions, or to resize my Drive C, would that cause significant errors?

I heard that Vista and Windows 7 use a different structure with partitions, and heard that if you partition a drive that already has XP partitions on it, it will or can screw up the existing partitions.
