Vista - Vista 64 & 4 gigs RAM

I wanted to know if I can use 4 gigs of RAM on Vista 64 as opposed to 8 gigs? I will be using this rig mostly for gaming.

I haven't had any luck finding two 4 gig packs of memory locally unless I spend a lot of money.

Could I use four 2 gig sticks of the same mfg? I am hesitant not to use bundled memory if I want 8 gigs.

Yes, 4 gigs will run in 64 and run your games without issue. I had only 4 gigs with my 64 OS and all my games played flawlessly.

I would have to agree, 4 Gig is more than enough to run your games, and anything else you care to throw at it.
I use 4 two Gig sticks with no issues at all, (as do most people), so if you want to go that route, then you will have no issues and a load of memory to spare.

I have 6GB DDR3 in my laptop, one 4GB and one 2GB, both work perfectly and Vista takes around 1.4GB of RAM in idle usage with 64 processes running. No problems there.

Yep, 4 GB is oodles.

64 bit Vista can use any amount of memory that you can throw at it (within reason).
I've got 4 gB of DDR2 in my laptop running Win7 x64 and don't have any problems with it.

Gaming should be fine and the limit for Vista Ultimate is 128GB RAM, and 16GB for Vista Premium.

I use 4gb 4 x 1gb modules of duel channel memory.
I do photo editing and alot of gaming with the settings on nearly max.
I run supream commander on two monitors.
