An Unauthorized Change to Windows & Genuinity

Hello, I don't know if this is the right place to ask for help or not, but I hope someone can help me. =/ I have Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit and more times then not, I get this notice saying an unauthorized change has happened to Windows" or something along the lines. Then it gives me the option to go online or 'close' which brings me back to login screen, and I have to keep trying to restart until Windows starts up normally. If I go online, it brings me to microsoft.com/genuine/ and it said my version of Windows Vista wasn't genuine. I'm on a Presario V6000 and it used to have Windows XP but we installed Vista on it and I'm pretty sure it's genuine. On the validating if it's genuine thing, after saying it wasn't, it gave me these instructions that said to go to Command Prompt and to type "net start slsvc" and to wait for it to say 'The Software Liscensing service has started'. Mine says "The Software Licensing service could not be started. A system error has occured. System error 54273 has occured. The system cannot find message text for message number 0xd401 in the message file for BASE". Also, I have lately been getting other pop-ups like 'Optional update delivery not working; You may be a victim of software counterfeiting." and stuff about by Windows Aero not being genuine, though I've been using it for well over 6 months. Also, my Control Panel and everything in it has simply... disappeared. I would change my Aero to normal kind (if it's there) but I can't even get into my Control Panel or even think it's there because when I click on it, a explorer comes up with nothing and closes itself quickly. Also searching for anything that would usually be in the Control Panel in the search start thing (like Users, Display, Mouse, the norm) aren't in the search results. It feels horrible. Windows Update will also not open, though other Windows stuff will, like Windows Mail. I also tried watching some movies online and though there were a massive amount of pop-ups, I don't believe that's the problem as I do that on other computers. =/ Will anyone please help me? I'd really appreciate it.

Re: An Unauthorized Change to Windows & Genuinity

I can't get into the Properties of My Computer. I also tried opening Control Panel from Desktop, and I get "This folder is empty". But if I open from the start button, it just quickly appears and closes itself as said. And I can't go to Step 2 of that before Step 1. =/

Re: An Unauthorized Change to Windows & Genuinity

I already have and got:
Windows Activation Error; A problem occured when Windows tried to activate. Error Code 0x80070426. For a possible resolution, click More Information.
and the More Information says:
The following information was found in this error:
Code: 0x80070426
Description: The service has not been started.

edit: I tried the net slsvc stuff again, and I got that it started correctly, but the microsoft.com/genuine still says that I don't have a genuine version. It says that if that doesn't work, to read Windows Vista Newsgroups, or Microsoft Genuine Advantage Forum for other cases, which didn't help me very much. =/ The next thing to try was "If there are no known issues with software already installed on your computer, it may be necessary to remove any recently installed software (including Microsoft updates) in order to resolve the problem. To uninstall programs, open Programs and Features by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking Programs, and then clicking Programs and Features. Select a program, and then click Uninstall. " As I said, my Control Panel isn't working, so I can't do that. There's no more things to try. =/

vit3m3:

It would help if you explain what kind of Vista install media you have,
and how you acquired it.

When you went from XP to Vista, did you install Vista from a newly bought
retail Vista disc, something other?

Thank you for providing that info. I think this might open up HP customer support
as an aid in resolving this for you.
