Changing Drive Icons

I have been following the steps in some of the tutorials on how to change a drive's icon. I can get get all of my drives to change to what I want, except for my SD card reader, Drive G. I have restarted the computer several times. The default blue SD icon never changes, unless i remove the card. When i insert the card, it returns of course, but with the default blue SD icon. Any ideas out there?

Plug the drive into you computer.
Open the drive in My computer.
Click on Tools.
Click on folder options click the view tab.
Select show hidden files.
Click OK.
Close all of the My computer windows.
Do a file search on your external drive and search for .ico files there should only be one or two. delete them.
Now empty the recycle bin and restart you computer.
The next time you open your My Computer windows it should have the same icon as your other drive.
This should work.

Legati:

Going on the belief that there may be one or more .ico files on the drive, that came with it, but are hidden files.

With your SD card plugged in, click Start orb > Computer. This should show your drives. Click on G: drive. Then press the Alt key to show the menu bar with Tools. Tools > Folder options > View tab > Show hidden files and folders.

Then follow the rest previously posted. Report back if you succeed or need help.

Nope. There is nothing on the card. Thanks for the last tip. I wasnt aware of the alt button bringing up tools. I followed everything in all the previous posts and when I restarted, the default blue SD icon is still there. I didnt day this before, but the card reader is built in to the laptop. When i remove the card, the drive goes away. Unlike my E drive. When i remove a disk from the E drive, the drive icon stays. The card reader drive acts just like my external hard drive. When i remove/unplug them both, the drive icons disapear. The removable hard drive icon however returns to the one that i have designated when i plug the drive back in. The sd card reader drive icon, has not changed from the default blue sd icon. I have done the exact same procedures for it as i have for all of my other drives. If any of you have any more sugesstions, i would love to hear them. This is driving me nuts. Thanks.

I'll keep my eyes and ears open for something on changing that icon.

If you'd like to have the menu with Tools on it stay, just click on Organize, hover over Layout, and put a checkmark on Menu.
