Greetings everyone!!!I have searched through the forum and had no luck so Ill try again.. Im having Horrible luck with my new dell that isn't 1 year old and had 2 failures..First HD had to be replaced and now this..I cannot access safemode or task mgr or Shiftx5 OR system RStr.....I am not happy to call Dell again..Yawn on-hold and cliche things Ive done already...Is there a fix or am I screwed.............i dont want to wipe out , "once again" my hdd.......Thanks and Please help a Frustrated Vista owner!! Boot from your vista installation dvd and do a syatem restore :)

Boot from your vista installation disk and select command prompt,

Type bootrec /fixboot hit enter
bootrec /fixmbr hit enter and restart.

In XP it was either a hard drive problem or a problem with the video drivers - and that still holds true for Vista/Win7.

Do a hard drive diagnostic
Run the commands that delphin has selected
Boot into Safe Mode with Networking - if you get a screen there, download the latest video drivers for your system. Then uninstall the current video drivers. Reboot. If you're able to get into Windows normally, then the video drivers were the problem - so install the new one's that you've downloaded.

If all that doesn't fix it, then it's either a corrupted driver/service, or a problem with the registry. If you don't have any system restore points, then the only other option would be a repair install of Vista (haven't done one myself).
