My extremely bad Windows vista home basic SP1..

1.6Ghz Processer
2GB Ram
128MB Video Card (Nivida)

Lags like crazy ****?

my dad just bought me this computer its a e machines EL1300G-01W

its rating is 3/10...

He's not very good with computers so he didn't know..he thought he'd buy me a 298$ desktop and I'd be happy..

I can't open Emulators for (SNES, NES, DS, ETC...)

I can't play anything on Yoyogames...

with small programs it gets 100% CPU Usage..

My computer model is un-upgradable..

I can only upgrade the ram..thats about it...it only has one PCI 1 slot and not enough room for my new graphics card that needs a PCI-Express 16x slot..

What the hell do I do with this??
My dad won't bring it back for a refund...
It is better then my other computer but it still lags like crazy..

Hello Somdahl,

No, there's not to much you can do to upgrade your system, but maybe this can help improve it's performance some.

Speed Up the Performance of Vista

Hope this helps,

Re: My extremely bad Windows vista home basic SP1..

Have you thought about upgraded to SP2 for Vista? It might make a difference. Also there is a tutorial on here called "How to increase the performance of Vista" or along those lines. I used that tutorial and it made a difference.

Im not the best at links(never was) so I hope this helps.

Re: My extremely bad Windows vista home basic SP1..

1. Uninstall the Bloatware From Your Computer - Done

2. Install the Latest BIOS and Device Drivers - Uhmm? How lol?

3. Install More RAM - Impossible, I have 2 ram ddr2 slots and both have a 1gb ram slot plus I want to buy a gaming computer in the future..

4. Install Vista SP1 - My internet has a 430MB Download Limit with a speed of 90kbps my parents pay 200$ a month for it and its sattilite plus I don't have enough money to buy it (im not poor my parents could buy it but they wont)

5. Turn Aero Glass Transparency Off - Done

6. Adjust Visual Effects for Best Performance - Done

7. Enable Advanced Performance for the Hard Drive - Done

8. Disable the Search Index - FINISHED

9. Disable or Remove Unused Startup Programs - Done

10. Disable Unused Vista Services - Already done lol

11. Disable or Restrict TCP/IP Auto Tuning - Ehwhot?

12. Turn Off Remote Differential Compression (RDC) - Didn't have to do nee tang lol

25. Use the High Performance Plan in Power Options - Finished

Yeah I basicly did almost all of them successfully!

My computer is alot faster but still can't run as much as I wanted.

Ill post my personal ratings:

Speed: 7/10
Looks: 3/10
Graphics: 8/10
Fan Sound: 10/10
Keyboard\Mouse: 11/10 < Lol.

Somdahl,

I'm happy to hear that you got it to run a lot faster now until you can upgrade to a faster system in the future.

Re: My extremely bad Windows vista home basic SP1..

If you somehow get SP1 and SP2 to work on your system given your restricted download size, I am sure your performance will increase. I thought Satellite allowed you to download unrestricted from like 3 am to 7 am or something like that, I had DirectTV internet and that is what they said to me. Regarding the RAM, a 2 GB stick of DDR2 isnt that expense to buy, you can upgrade your slots to hold 4GB total, if your motherboard allows of course, and you will also see a speed increase there too. Its not exactly going to be a high end gaming pc but it will run alot better and be more in the "mid range" compared to the "mid to low end" as your might be seeing now.

Hope this helps and good luck.

Re: My extremely bad Windows vista home basic SP1..

Thanks, Btw

My computer is un-upgradeable..

No extra spots to put other ram slots and the only other slot is a PCI x1 slot
plus the computer is too thin to put my graphics card in ...
