How far can you expand your average dell computer?

hey all, could someone tell me if i can change the motherboard in my factory dell vostro 410 desktop, so that i can replace it with a motherboard that is SLI enabled?

If so what motherboards should i be looking for, is there a specific one due to the size of the case?

Also, being a dell computer i realize your limited into what your changing, does that apply to the PSU and CPU? :sarc:

Thank You, look forward to your replies

The case is standard ATX size so a standard ATX motherboard will fit. Find one that is SLI enable. Since you are switching the motherboard out, why not build a PC from scratch? You'll have to look in the case but the PSU should be interchangeable.

Be careful. I would strongly advise that you get a replacement PSU as well, especially if you are considering utilising multiple graphics cards. For a period of time, Dell used PSUs that looked the same as standard ones, even used the same connectors, but that is as far as the similarities went. They changed the pin layout of the connectors and, on the main 20/24 pin one, even the number of the different voltage lines as well. Even if you are lucky, and the PSU happens to be a newer model that complies with the standard, I would still replace it. Dell tend to use PSUs that don't have much expansion capacity; indeed many are custom made to have just the number of connectors required for the system that they are going to be used on.
