Hi all really need your help with this, I recently installed Linux I didn't want it on my computer so i put it on my portable usb drive I thought it was crap so tried to uninstall it I got it removed but then noticed I couldn't boot vista I had to reinstall Linux to get vista to boot but also noticed that the usb drive has to be connected or I don't get the option to boot vista. everything in the bios seems ok and vista is working fine when its working but I dont want to have the usb drive connected just to use my computer as I use it for work.

Can anyone help with this? I've tried to reinstall vista but the disc wont read, dvd/cd's work fine just not the install disc, I've also done a system restore but no luck.

When the usb is removed I get an error from linux grub 1.5 error 3,17 and 21 please help thanks.

GRUB is a bootloader that usually comes with Linux. It seems that although you removed Linux, GRUB is still looking for it, and it will only find it if your USB is connected. You simply need to "fix" your bootloader.

I use a free program called EasyBCD. It manages your boot settings and works with all OS's.
