First to elaborate on my current issues, I've done months of searching for answers and have found none. Hopefully you guys can help. When turning on my laptop, each time I have to skip the dskchk that pops up. It usually freezes between 50 and 64 during the second phase i believe. (Not sure on the phase) anyway so I generally skip it. On a blue moon it will lock up for about 5 seconds and then go to the windows login screen.

This lead me to believe some kind of system file was corrupt, which I've got out the trusty old command prompt and used the SFC /scannow function, which enivitably created the CBS files. Which is great because it turns out the windows sidebar system.ini is corrupt. A truley useless program, that I do not use nor boot at start corrupted itself from what I can tell.

Now here's where it get's odd, I don't use registry cleaners or anything of that sort, and when I use the gadgets, they all appear to work normally. No inconsistancies, or issues. I'm truley stuck.

SFC.EXE tells you when system files have been changed. You'll have to look at the copy in the driver store to tell you what exact change was made.

Have you done a hardware diagnostic on your hard drive? (usually freely available at the website of the manufacturer)
