Reinstall question on upgraded CPU and new HDD

I think I have a lot of "junk" on my system OS and I want to re-install the OS. I feel as though there is a rootkit or some nasty virus. I'm used to the XP model when you can reinstall fairly often (5 times). I want to re-install on a clean hard drive. I also want to upgrade from an E6750 to a Q6600.

I am running Vista Business 64 and it has only been installed once.

What are my options?

Hello Tankman, and welcome to Vista Forums.

If you have a retail copy of Vista and not a OEM Vista that came preinstalled on a store bought computer, then you can install it on any computer that you want. Of course, you can only have one copy of it installed with that product key number at one given time though. No multiple installation with the same key.

Sometimes when you install it on a new system or a heavily upgraded system, you may need to do a phone activation though.

Hope this helps,
Shawn
