previously there was a link on this topic, but it was not helpful to me.

I want to remove the windows start up sound for my vista. even if my computer's sound is off before I shut down my computer, it makes a big noise when I start up.

I went to control panel/ sound and I unchecked the box next to "play windows startup sound" but this was not helpful. still I hear the same noise when I start my computer.

Does anyone have useful suggestion, I will appreciate

Regards

aand about this detailed diagram - I already did this, but there is no change, I still continue to hear the annoying noise. I chose "no sound" option and I unchecked "windows startup sound" but still the same sound continues.

If anyone has suggestions ,pls kindly let me know!
thanks.

Go to services console by typing services.msc in run.

And search for windows audio service, and make the startup type as automatic(delayed).

Now you wont get sound at the startup

Hope this will help :)

sorry! It was "Automatic" and I tried to change it to "automatic (delayed)"
but it gives an error,
error 87: parameter wrong

Anything I can do?

My Computer

Sorry about that :D. The audio serrvice cannot be automatic(delayed).

The procedure i'm going to describe is not really a solution, But instead of doing hopeless digging we can have a remedy for your problem :)

Make the audio service startup type to manual. download View attachment audio.bat batch file and place this file in your start up.( to do that paste the file into C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup directory)

If you do that, the windows audio service will not start at the time windows starts.
but it will be started while you are loging in :)

keep us informed
