Solved HP Quick Launch Buttons

Something recently happened to my Quick Launch Buttons. Whenever I press the mute volume control button on the keyboard, it launches Excel.

I checked the Users Guide and found reference to the mute volume control button but no where did it indicate how to change any settings.

How do I fix this?

Have you tried downloading the latest drivers related from the HP website?

Yes, I have downloaded the latest drivers but it did not help.

Sometimes this works -
Turn off the notebook, remove both ac and battery power for a short time, then re-insert the battery and/or ac power. The quicklaunch buttons 'reset' (light up and go crazy for a couple of seconds).

I also had a small issue with the Quick Launch buttons, my mute button wouldn't light correctly. Searching around, it wasn't unheard of, but nobody could seem to come up with a fix. I clean installed Vista to avoid HP bloatware (Quick Launch software as well) and it works fine now. It might not bother that much but if you do, here's a very good guide on how to.
