What bad, bad,habit?

These are two snips just done. But just what am I supposed to take notice of? I honestly haven't a clue what any of these progressive graphs mean.

The second was taken a couple of minutes after the first. Comparatively speaking, are these great/good/mediocre/fair/appalling?

Those graphs look completely normal to me. In the first one, nothing much was happening in your system. In the second one, you had a lot of disk activity. Depending on what is running, the graphs will be different every second.
Was there a specific question you needed to get answered?

I was just curious about what sort of useful purpose these are to me, an avid 'non-gamer'. As far as interpretation of the graph detail is concerned.....sure beats me what I can diagnose from that. I'm kinda lost in the technicality of it all.

normal enough , quite alot of disk activity in the second one! could be prefetching i suppose

are you on dialup??!! 56kb/s??

they can be usefull if your wanting to see if your cpu is getting high usage for no apparnet reason for troubleshooting purposes same with your hard dive , you can see whats being accessed via the dropdown list , same with cpu yuo can see wahts taking up the cycles and whts loaded into and using your ram

if you have no issues its probably best to stay away from it ;) less hassle

ADSL2 1500/256 [but normally around 1380/190]....

....and since I know absolutely nothing of these 'workings', I'm leaving well enough alone. I've got tons of RAM and HDD GB for this unit, so no worries.

Vist'a indexing and superfetch kill HDDs. I've already lost one lowend drive to the massive spikes!

OK Guys,

With what info you gave, I've done a lot more reading on this, including one of Brink's Tutorials, with the net result that Search Index in Vista is now OFF = Disabled. Thanks for the bits of advice. Another piece added to the learning curve!

Peruse......the perfect word!

What a brilliant and concise report.....a must read on the state of play for all Vista Users, and for all XP Users who refuse to believe that there is a better system on the other side, with Vista....and Windows 7 as well, of course.

The comparatives [in development time-lines, SP* releases etc.] done between XP versus Vista are interesting, and should settle the arguments once and for all.......that is, provided that all Users take the time to read the report in full, and not just selected parts of it. There is much ammunition there to refute many claims made by XP users, in support of their dogged refusal to take up the Vista shield. I'd lay odds that the same fervent, bumbling and delusional arguments will now also be directed at Windows 7.

Great stuff. This, and the link in the next post [which I have yet to read] have been bookmarked to two different Files.....don't want to loose these for future reference:D .

that site "tweakguides" has been my saviour for many years , his gaming tweakguides are fantastic as are all his guides , ive lost count of the number of times ive recommended his them

He has no time for game guides anymore and as he says PC games are becoming more and more just console ports with little or no tweakable settings anyway , a big loss for the gaming community

he says microsoft is sending him a full copy of win 7 soon so watch out for his guide :)

Downloaded and had a very quick peek at TGTC.....full of information, a lot that I don't have tech-knowhow to attempt, but informative, all the same. ThenQ.
