I have an external hard drive holding 465 GB and Have used up 100 GB on it mostly with pictures. Precious Precious Pictures. When I try to plug it in one time weird things happen. I can read the hard drive and it says 100Gb is used up but I can only see the first files and there's nothing inside them! Sometimes there are somethings inside sometimes nothing and I can't paste or cut anything into it. When I try to make a new folder or anything It says unable to locate <%3 NULL:OpText>. HEEEELP MEEEE all my precious pictures are in there and I'm a 12 year old who hasn't taken precautions to backup the files. I tried googling it but all I got was use a different pc, ubuntu, Update usb ports and it has the click of death and nothing can be done about it (which I doubt because Some files just pop up at random whenever I plug it in at various times. . I think the files are still in there since it still shows 100 Gb in use but they don't show most of the time. Do I need to have a new usb connector? sometimes the light that shows it's connected switches off. Enough details? HEEEEELP!

Have you at any point of the HDD's life just pulled out the USB without going to the menu to safety remove the hardware,
I did the same this where i lost all files on my memory stick of which had my school work ect on it "not happy"

Have you run Norton ghost to see if it can find the corrupt files and recover them?

Once i did this i found that most files i could get back but some were corrupt and couldnt be recovered

Try to defrag the disk aswell

Try norton ghost and post back what happens
