Hello everyone. I have Vista Basic and I have had countless problems with it ever since I got this computer. However, most of them have been easily fixed, but this one has me pulling my hair out trying to figure it out. :l
A few months ago I was having some problems with a few services that were really bogging down my computer speed so I went into msconfig to change my start up services. Fyi, go to run and then msconfig to get to that. Anyway, this most definitely fixed my problem for the time being but now I am trying to use one of the services that I stopped. The service name is: GameConsoleService and it belongs to WildGames Console used for children to play games. (trying to get this working for my son)
No matter where I go: either in MSCONFIG, CTRL/ALT/DEL then Services, or Administrative Tools whenever I click Enable Service or Start Service it has no effect.
Well, when I do enable service in msconfig it has no effect but start service in Services pops up a dialog box that says: Operation Could Not Be Completed Access is Denied...
Well I am logged in under administrator (and for that matter the only account on the computer) So Access should most definitely not be denied.
I get the same effect no matter which of the stopped services I try to start, but I have no problem Stopping services still (tested it on a useless service to see, but then I can't start it again).
I even tried deleting Wildgames completely but now GameConsoleService still appears in the Services Node and still says access is denied.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
