Ok... new guy here and not a computer guy by any stretch. I hope that someone can walk a rock through this. My Nephew was playing some online game on my wife's Vista desktop. A screen appeared that said "System Recovery". Fr two days now, I have tried everything from "Start In Repair mode.... recommended" to "Normal Start Up" and nothing happens. It just gets to a blue screen with a cursor flashing. Here comes the other bad news. I cant find the disc that came with the computer. Should I
A: Smash the computer with a hammer?
B: Murder my Nephew?
C: pray that someone here can walk me through some kind of recover.

At this point, I am willing to write off all of the documents that may be lost.

Thanks in advance for any and all help

Hello AB, and welcome to Vista Forums.

If you are able to, you can create a Vista recovery disc (from another computer if needed), then use it to do a System Restore at boot using a restore point dated before you had this problem to hopefully fix it for you.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Yes... I can do that from the laptop I am using now. Do you have a site for that?

My Computer

If someone could direct me to a download, I can do it on this computer and then use it on the H.P Vista that is having the problem. That would be awesome.

What OS was on the computer when you got it? Vista? if so do you have a label on it with a vista "key"?
