Windows Vista x64 Home Premium freezes randomly

I've just orderdered a series of compatible hardware to assemble a new computer
Now that I've installed windows vista 64 x home premium i've experienced random freezes, BSOD, and i can't play crysis either! if someone can help me out please do so .

This is my system specs straight from my newegg shopping cart :

And my CD drive is from a 2 year old dell computer. It's very possible that this is the issue. But I doubt it. The CD drive is compatible and works pretty well (although it is very slow).

Re: Windows Vista x64 Home Premium freezes randomly

from newegg for your motherboard:

Supported CPU CPU Socket Type AM3/AM2+/AM2 CPU Type AMD Phenom II X4 Processor
AMD Phenom II X3 Processor
AMD Phenom II X2 Processor
AMD Phenom X4 Processor
AMD Phenom X3 Processor
AMD Athlon II X2 Processor
AMD Athlon X2 Dual-Core Processor
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core Processor
AMD Athlon 64 FX Processor
AMD Athlon 64 Processor
AMD Sempron Processor
Maximum CPU TDP (Thermal Design Power) : 125Watt

it only supports processors up to 125w, and you have a 140w phenom II, this may cause some or all of your problems =\.
could you post your memory dump (minidump .dmp) from your BSOD for someone to analyze? you can locate it in c:\windows\minidump
zip it and attach to your post and someone'll look at it (right click -> send to -> compressed (zipped) folder, or use winzip)

Newegg has a nice Gigabyte that will support your processor, you can find it here. I heavily recommend gigabyte, all solid japanese capacitors, 2oz copper PCB (extremely sturdy), well featured, decently priced, and it supports up to a 140w cpu!
and it's even got a second pci-e slot so you can crossfire in the future if you feel the need to, although it is about $15 more than the one you previously purchased =/

hello, in the specs for the board I gave you a link to, it does list the ram supported as 1333, but that's at an overclock. the reason it shows up nothing but mobos when you search for it is because it's just showing you the boards that would support such a speed. If you wanted to run that speed you would need an am3 processor (which you have), and oc some 1066 ram. the ram you linked to should work excellently with the board, and if you feel the itch, you should be able to oc it to 1333 in your bios without a hitch, ventilation of your case permitting. but as your board supports ddr2, it's definitely not a necessity, and you could run stock speeds on ddr2 1066. newegg tends to leave their specs a tad confusing . hope this helps, and if you have any other questions, fire away
