Two "iexplore.exe *32" Processes per session

With one occurance of IE8 opened, Task Manager shows two (2) "iexplore.exe *32" processes running, each with a different PID. Both are initiated from the same file location. One uses 14K and the other 59K memory.

If I end either process at the Task Manager, both running processes are closed.

If I open a second session while the first session is still opened, only one (1) more "iexplore.exe *32" process is started.

Each session opens with it's appropriate "Homepage", both also with only one (1) tab.

AVG; MalwareBytes and SpyBot don't find any problems. The browser works fine and fast.

- Is this normal?
- Is this because I am running everything in 64 bit mode?

Just trying to understand more how the O/S works. Thanks.

I don't know much about 64-bit, I don't even use IE, but I'm interested why this is. If you do figure it out, make sure to post here!

Process Explorer might help - it gives you far more details than Task Manager.

Thanks for the replay Dwarf.

It all makes sense and I am no longer worried about possible Mal/Spy/Adware problems.

Feels good to understand such things!
