Trouble with upgrading from Home Basic to Home Premium

Ok, so I have Vista Home Basic and I am looking to upgrade to Home Premium. I was looking at the features I don't have on my laptop (eg Windows Media Center, Windows Aero, Remote Desktop) and when I searched my computer, I found out I had features that Home Basic shouldn't have, like Windows Meeting Space and Windows Mobility Center, which I found strange

Now, I found out that if I upgraded to Home Premium, I would loose Windows Complete Backup and Restore and Networking Center and Remote Desktop, with Windows BitLocker Drive Encryption not being available on on either OS.

What I would like to know is if I upgraded to Home Premium, would I keep Windows Complete Backup and Restore and Networking Center and Remote Desktop from before the upgrade.

I do hope that this is not too confusing to understand and I also hope someone can help me out!

Thanks for reading

That's in Vista Buisness where you can do a full image of your pc's hard drive. The otehr features ae same and Remote Desktop is slightly adjusted. I'd an anytime upgrade to vista ultimate. However, I don't think Vista Home Basic qualifies for a Windows 7 upgrade.

Thanks SIW2 and Frostmourne, I really appreciate your advice so far.

I found the "What's in your vista?" website useful, although I'm not sure it's all correct, but I'm not sure.

I wouldn't particularly like to upgrade to windows 7 - not until I simply replace my current laptop.

I am prepared to go with the ultimate upgrade, but I'm still wondering about my first question. Will the features I have on my basic be replaced by all the features on premium?

Looking at this:
Get Windows Vista: Windows Anytime Upgrade comparison

and knowing that I already have these:
Windows Meeting Space
Windows Tablet and Touch Technology
Windows Complete PC Backup and Restore
Remote Desktop

Will the bottom two on that above list be gotten rid of.

If no-one has a answer, that's fine, but it would be nice know. I am quite happy simply to save up for the ultimate upgrade, it would probably be for the best!.

Ultimate has everything the other editions have, that is why it is Ultimate. You'll lose nothing and gain a few features such as a unix subsystem and access to local group policy content among others.
