I want to do a OS reinstall. Im TRYING to do a manual backup of JUST what FOLDERS/FILES i want . its not working the way i was shown to do. copying and pasting the folder or file to the E drive to a CD. dragging doesnt even work...
when i go to backup and restore center in vista home basic, all i get in the window is to backup files or restore them. i click on change settings and all i get again is the choice to backup files.. nothing else... why cant i get a wizard and be able to choose the folders and files i want to backup, then i can restore them to the new clean install.
had a virus and trojans awhile ago and had it taken care of, but i think it has corrupted and messed up things on my system. little things i notice, not only the recycle bin which ive tried everything this board has said to do and nothing works to fix it, but now my printer is acting up, all just a mess. so i figured if i do a clean install and then restore my contacts and bookmarks and pictures and music then things will work better.... but if i cant even backup those things then i cant save anything ill lose it all......
PLUS i have verizon DSL and im wondering if all that has to be reconfigured, connection set up etc, otherwise i wont be able to get online.... i dont have the cd to install it anymore..... i know when i bought this system any programs that came with cds to install had to be reinstalled...... i have bestbuy dig music with rhapsody as well as itunes and the WMP has a library of songs too i want to save plus all my kodak pictures. the cd that came with that software i dont have anymore either. so id like to save those things to disc so when i reinstall they will all be there as they are now on my computer and desktop..
anyone here have any ideas as to helping me with this whole mess?? ive been trying for days and cpl wks now to get this taken care of so i can do the reinstall, i would like to get it done once and for all...
