i recently brought a dell xps m1330.
i went on holiday that night and i left it updating and the laptop was then turned off, and when i returned this message is shown on screen:
Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:
1. Insert your Windows installation disc and restart and restart computer
2. Etc
3. Etc

and then after insterting the disc and activating it there is still nothing

PLEASE DOES ANYONE HAVE A SOLUTION?

My Computer

I am having the same problem had to reload the disc I got with the computer worked first time then crashed again and hangs at "please wait" or start up repair.
I have downloaded a new system file and will burn it to disc and try again, as I think that the disc I got with my computer only uses the files in the system repair, i.e. the ones that are corrupted, if it works I will let you know

Tried new downloaded boot disc and the computer is still stopping at the blue/green screen with PLEASE WAIT....
I am now fed up waiting and will un-ceremonously drop the computer from the second floor window onto the concrete I doubt that will work but it will make me feel better!!

Hello Abiss and David, and welcome to Vista Forums.

You might see if doing a System Restore at boot using a restore point dated before this problem may be able to fix it for you other than a clean reinstall.

Hope this helps,
Shawn
