I'm using any application and suddenly the File button in the Menu bar is highlighted for a blink, sometimes a fast series of blinks, then it happens again and again. Now all the menu bar buttons are also highlighted, yet they're pressed! It's very annoying, because I loose control of anything I'm doing. I have to press scape to stop the button highlighting. Could this be a virus, or just a bug? Please help!

Hello Ocetalo,
Whenever the ALT key is pressed this happens by default to the Menu bar in the current active window as part of a keyboard shortcut. For example, press Alt+F to open the File menu. You can also press ALT+(a underlined letter on menu) to open that menu item.

Thanks Brink. However, that is not my case (I already know that shortcut). The problem is that it happens without pressing the Alt. I have checked the Alt key for it is stuck or something but it is OK. It seems to be a software thing. Please help!

Are you using a laptop ? I so, I have thatappen when my hand brushes the laptop pad for mouse pointer movement. I use a usb mouse, and type on the keyboard. When the laptop starts doing weirtd things, I hit the escape key, and find out I touched the laptop mousepad with the side of my hand.
