| Vista Enterprise | Unable to change power settings as Administrator Hi, I use a Vista Enterprise Laptop for work, of which I am in the administrator group and can Install/Remove Programs and do just about averything else other than the Power settings..... I want to remove my password login after resuming, but this is greyed out and it says some settings are controlled by the system administrator, but yet I am listed as administrator? Also I I try to access gpedit.msc, it says I may not have access rights? Please help Ron |

| Vista Home Premium 32-bit & Vista Ultimate 64-bit both Service Pack 2 W7 Pro RTM 7600 32 & 64 | Re: Unable to change power settings as Administrator Hi Ron, Do other people, who are not in the administrator group, have a need to access your machine? If so, then your password is there for a very good reason, and that is to stop unauthorized entry into your account by others. The System Administrator (SA) will be aware of this, hence the reason why you don't have access rights to certain features. Even if you are the only one (besides, of course, the SA) who uses the machine, there are certain features to which the SA has deemed that you are not privy to. The only thing I can suggest is that you have a word with your SA. I cannot see him/her agreeing to allow you to do what you want with your password other than changing it - s/he will probably not allow you to remove it altogether. Remember that the SA's decision on this matter is final, and that we on the Forums cannot help you in any way to circumvent any restrictions placed on a system by a Systems Administrator in a works environment. |
