Hello! I am a new newbie and just customized a HP HDX Premium Series from HP. Had the system for about 2 weeks now and noticing alot of slowness/sluggish when typing or working with applications. Also, seems to freeze momentairly. I had sever other issues 1. .NET Framework 3.5 fails during install 2. Smart Media Stopped Working Error 3. HP CUE Status Root Stopped Working Error 4. MS Sync Center Stopped Working Error 5. Windows Update KB973879 totally screwed up my system righ out of the box and had to do a restore 2nd day I had the new laptop. I built this to be bigger, faster and better but I am not happy with the new system.

Any suggestions????

Thanks for responding. I am using what was setup from HP. I have done all the updates. Would that not have been one of them?

What other things should I check or do with my new system?

Thanks,
Amy

For start ...: download this CCleaner to clean out all Junk and

Broken/invalid registies ....

CCleaner - Download

"There was an issues when sp2 first came out for some HP with AMD processors ...

And I (Was helping a friend of mine) ended up to uninstall Sp1 out ....reboot ....

run Wds up-date again ..then everything go back to normal ....."

I don't know if it'll help ..but it's worth a try ....

Help me understand how a brand new computer has invalid and broken regs?

Was restored from backup correct? broken reg could have been imported. what I would suggest is to go into event viewer (type event viewer in search) and go to the windows log>apps tab look for errors and see which ones are relevant to your current problem. let us know what they say

Ken

Use something like startup inspector Welcome to Startup Inspector for Windows

And then as he said use something like cccleaner,
then run a defrag and maybe a chkdsk /r /f in cmd
also scan for viruses and install all updates for your pc,
(if you want to speed it up, upgrading and overclocking is always an option for post pentium 4's)

Hey Al. I just offer my general suggestion ...."shot in the dark if you will"

you might or might agree with it ....But don't get offended ....

I don't know how you use it .. How many programs you've been downloading amd installing ...All of those can add up to "borg' your system down ...?

If you know how to use or taking care of your pc....you wouldn't be here asking for helps ....

This will be my last post for you...

Wish you luck with your NEW pc.

I have not downloaded anything except for updates. I am only trying to run 3 applications at once for work purposes ( I work from home) I am running gmail, SugarCRM and another application via internet. I am on here asking for assistance because I paid over $2700 for this customized laptop and expected it to be faster with applications and etc. This slowness during typing and switching windows should not be happening, especially with a brand new system.

My other laptop is a 32bit that I paid $750 and it work s like a charm, actually better than the new one at this point.

When my system auto updated Windows KB973879 2nd day out of the box it kept running through the reg and there was a blue screen and it started booting over and over. I had to finally shut it down. When I called HP they told me that they had received a lhigh volume of calls with those with the HDX version. The data was corrupt and there were bad files and to do a restore. Ever since then I have had nothing but problems!!!!

You guys are the experts on this stuff - what do I do?

Thanks - I went to the event viewer and see some errors, but I have no clue as to what they mean or how to fix them.

Resolved my issues! Called HP (me not happy at all) and they will be picking up this defective system and building me a new one. Will let you know how the new one functions when it gets here in approx 1-2 weeks.

Thanks for everyone's help and suggestions :)
