.exes failing.

Okay, if I can get help on this I will take back almost everything bad I said about Vista computers.

The problem is:

I have WinRar, when I try to extract .exe files it gives me an error saying "! Cannot execute". Now before you say it is Winrar's fault you are wrong.

An admin said that 7-Zip is what I should be using.

But, guess what happens when I use 7-Zip?

Another error.

Let me address this one:
"could not find this item"
When I extract.

Now, is Vista blocking this in some sort of way?
PLEASE HELP, I am planning on getting my brother a new computer which would be a Vista but I really wouldn't want to buy another if this problem is unsolvable.

If you are able to, see if extracting the files to your desktop instead will allow you to.

Can you located the directory c:\users\killer~1\appdata\local\temp? If yes, can you write a Word text file to that directory?

What if you launch an unzip program as admin?

If its a temp directory has something deleted the file in %temp%? Is the file still there?

first to diagnose see if you can unzip any folder.
so zip a text file and then try to unzip it.
if you cannot unzip it yourself you know that you have a problem

If the folder is an executable disable your antivirus, it might be denying access on the grounds that it thinks its a virus
If not the file might be corrupt. Download the file again, or try to get it from whence it came.
