i boot to the bios and i see everything is correctly, i see my HDD and dvd driver, i heard a beeps when i start, but i think this is the VAG detected, cuz i have the gtx 285 2G video card installed, i set the bios to boot the optical drive. it worked good untill installing the drivers!!

Can you boot to bios? Is that set up correctly? On boot up screen do you see hard drive recognized? Do you hear any diagnostic beeps? Does memory check show on boot up? Will it nit boot up on another operating system, or is it just x64? did you set the bios to boot off the optical drive? you need to provide a great deal more information.

So you see the initial "Vista" screen loading the operating system? Hard drive light comes on? What do you see when it fails?

Have you connected the drive properly, power and all? Did you connect the 285 with the right 6/8pin connectors? Nothing should beep.

Power connected to everything? Which SATA port did you use, on which controller - the chipset or the motherboard?

How's this? You need to download the chipset drivers (SATA) - OR - turn off IDE emulation for SATA drives on the motherboard if that's an option. Now gimme some REP - LOL. I can't believe I have gone all day without any... sheesh!

have some feedback on my first go round with a Vista Install. x64 editions I was stopped with the following slightly misleading message:
Required cd/dvd drive device driver is missing.
Windows Install could not load the CD/DVD drive that contains the installation media. Please provide the necessary drive or controller device drivers provided by your manufacturer.
Next, it suddenly prompted me with another unhelpful message:
No new devices could be found. Make sure the driver files are correct and located on the driver installation media.
Windows Install could not locate a storage device to install Windows Vista on. Please provide the necessary drive or controller device drivers provided by your manufacturer.

It seems Vista can't find the dvd drive or the hard drive. Do you have a spare dvd drive to see if that one has problems? What dvd drive model is it?

Rep can be given by clicking on the scales.

So what do you think, Frost? Looking for a 64-bit driver for the controller first, and then the SATA drivers for the HD?

At the prompt for the SATA/RAID drivers press F6...then insert your MBoard Driver CD...It will install them automatically and awhile later will prompt you to put the Vista DVD in.
