Help NEEDED!

Although there is probably a thead elsewhere with a solution i think perhaps my problem will be slightly different.

My grandmother has forgotten her password to log on to her desktop.
i find this very strange do to the fact that we were just on the computer last night, and i know for a fact that we both havent forgotten the password. Because ive actually used it to log on as well. But now the pc is saying the user name or password is incorrect,(strange)

She is WV. Home Prem. of corse the caps lock is off, i havent tried f2,f8,f10 or whatever f-button during restart because im not sure that will help anything. no vista cd in the house. and here is where we run into the dead end.

we recently moved to our new location, which is kinda far from where we did live. My laptop is older then hers so i dont have a dvd multi ROM. Here is why im telling you this. We dont know anyone around here yet, which means i cant burn a dvd from a friend computer, which might mean i cant do "Method Three" being that i dont have a dvd burner, just a reg. cd burner. at this point is my only option to go out and buy a removable usb flash drive and install "Method Three" on that? can you do that? surely i dont have to rebuy vista right??? anyway im trying to think if i coverd any questions that might come up before asked make the job easier....

Thank you GURU's of VISTA!!!

unless something was changed on the computer chances are its the wrong password. can you boot into safe mode (F8 on boot). chose boot in safe mode with command prompt if the option is there.

Let me knopw if you can do that

btw there is a way

okay let me update you with a piece of info i was just informed with.

this may or may not mean anything. im leaning towards the IT MEANS ALOT!

my grandma just told me that she did a repair or something rather and it asked for her login password. i was asking her what exactly the repair was but i think she is getting afraid that she is going to get into trouble or something. LOL kinda cute but anyway. she is saying she is not to sure or pretending she dosent remember exactly. i was trying to get details but she is not comeing clean!!!! haha anyway, i read on another thread that a woman did the same thing. is it a vista update or repair that asks for the password because that is what she is sayng the last thing she did with her laptop....like i said this may or may not help. i wanted to let you know this before i did the osbooot

It would be helpful if we knew what type of repair it asked for her on her pc.
Your best option is to log in as Administrator (as you say you cant do, or dont want to do) if you do this you can change or even remove the password to your grandmother's account. by doing this, you will get access back to her account.
