Vista - read-only option in properties cannot be cleared

Hi

I have tried a previously posted solution of taking ownership of folders and files to try and enable me to uncheck read only on my folders and files but it has not worked.
I have tried as Administrator making sure I have access to all files but still no joy.

What am I failing to do?

I have Vista Home Basic and 32 bit system

Hello Filstocker, and welcome to Vista Forums.

Folders cannot be marked as read-only. Marking read-only on a folder only marks the files in the folder as read-only instead.

This tutorial may be able to help.

What is the file and it's location that you are trying to get access to?

Sorry for being unclear.
All my folders and files are seemingly now blue marked as read-only (suddenly seemed to happen) and I wanted to unmark them. I have tried doing individual files but that didn't work either, jsut resumes being Blue-marked as read only

My folders are in my created folder in Documents

Filstocker,

Blue in the read-only box in a folder properties window indicates a undetermined state of not set as read-only. A folder will always return to this. Only if the box is checked in a file properties window is when the file is considered read-only.
