| Vista Home Basic 32 bit | read-only option in properties cannot be cleared Hi I have tried a previously posted solution of taking ownership of folders and files to try and enable me to uncheck read only on my folders and files but it has not worked. I have tried as Administrator making sure I have access to all files but still no joy. What am I failing to do? I have Vista Home Basic and 32 bit system |

| Vista x64 Ultimate SP2, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 | Re: read-only option in properties cannot be cleared Hello Filstocker, and welcome to Vista Forums. Folders cannot be marked as read-only. Marking read-only on a folder only marks the files in the folder as read-only instead. This tutorial may be able to help. Read-only File and Folder Attribute What is the file and it's location that you are trying to get access to? Hope this helps, Shawn |

| Vista Home Basic 32 bit | Re: read-only option in properties cannot be cleared Sorry for being unclear. All my folders and files are seemingly now blue marked as read-only (suddenly seemed to happen) and I wanted to unmark them. I have tried doing individual files but that didn't work either, jsut resumes being Blue-marked as read only My folders are in my created folder in Documents |

| Vista x64 Ultimate SP2, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 | Re: read-only option in properties cannot be cleared Filstocker, Blue in the read-only box in a folder properties window indicates a undetermined state of not set as read-only. A folder will always return to this. Only if the box is checked in a file properties window is when the file is considered read-only. Please see the tutorial above for more details about this. |
