"Error 1500"

I have searched around the forum but have not found this anywhere yet.

Everytime I try to install a new program I now am getting this "error 1500. Another installation is in progress. You must complete this installation before continuing this one."

What is that? HELP!

Do you have an install already? A partial install? Did you try it once and it bombed out before getting this error message? Have you rebooted and tried to install again?

Right clicking the start menu and opening task manager, then clicking on the services tab, then the services button in the bottom right (you'll need admin access to do so)

A new window should open, with a list of processes. Find the one called "Windows Installer" and open it.

There will be a section called "startup type" with a drop-down menu. From this menu select DISABLED.

Then restart your computer, follow same the process through again, but change it to MANUAL.

The official fix for this from MS, is to reboot your PC.
Try this,

1.Click Start, type: regedit.exe Right click regedit in the results
and select the 'Run as administrator' option.

2. Navigate to the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Installer\In Progress

3. Right click the 'In Progress' key and select Delete.

4. Close regedit and all programs and reboot the computer.

Try installing the program again.

You may want to download this free registry cleaner and clean out all the junk from your registry. (Backup your Registry when prompted).

Also, just to be sure, download and run this program to check for malware, it's free too.

Lemur, I tried what you said but I may have a different set up in my windows vistat ultimate x64 than you may have. I really thank you for your try.

Now I have another error message. thisis driving me insane. I cannot install anything. Now I have actially tried everything. Nothing is working.
AND I burned my bangers and mash. Dam.
