Vista won't keep my settings...

I uncheck the "Use drop shadows for icon lables on the desktop" and it works, but as soon as the computer has been rebooted the box is checked again and the shadows are back. Vista (Home Premium-32bit) will not keep the setting "unchecked" permanently. I have found on the web various registry settings which people have recommended, and have tried them all but Vista still won't keep it permanently unchecked. Does anyone have any insight to possibly different/additional registry settings which will solve this FLAW in Vista? Thanks.

Why do you want to disable drop shadows? What are your hardware specs. Fill them out.

Can you go to the advanced settings link in system properties and under the visual performance tab, look for an option to disable shadows.

Well, I must say I'm underwhelmed by the amount of "help" I've received on this forum.
There is no reason for such comment. Sorry no one has got to you.

Do this: start search > type sysdm.cpl > accept the UAC > go to the advanced tab > click on performance settings > then go down and find the option you want disabled.

Hope this helps. Post back with results :)

It seems neither you nor Frostmourne read my post very closely. As I stated, I have already done what both of you suggested. And it works. The problem is that vista will not keep the drop shadows permanently disabled. I am looking for a permanent solution such as a registry setting.
