| Vista Business x64 and XP 32 | Vista x64 keeps freezing 5 minutes after boot I have had it. . . Vista keeps freezing about 5 minutes after boot up. . . Software up to date, drivers up to date, BIOS, up to date, memory tested, no errors, switched out 4GIGs RAM, no change, Event viewer , no errors. . . Shut off Avast, still freezes chkdsk /r no change, ccleaner, no change, deframentation, no change. . . it used to be after the first reboot, the machine ran fine, until yesterday, when after any and every reboot, 5 minutes, system freezes, nothing works, disk activity can not be heard. other drive XP, no problems running, no freezeups, am using it now. . . so what's the deal, any suggestions? thanks sportsguy Last edited by sportsguy; 09-23-2009 at 09:09 PM.. |

| Windows Vista Enterprise x64 SP2 | Re: Vista x64 keeps freezing 5 minutes after boot First follow Ken's instructions. Hopefully that will resolve the problem. If not... Does it freeze in safe mode? If not, go into msconfig (just type it in start search) disable start up items and non microsoft services. the reason this is a suggestion because it freezes in normal mode not safe mode and the difference in safe mode to normal is start up items, services, and non plug and play drivers (suggestion to never touch unless you have an OS CD) |
