my god every pc ive had that i've installed vista on (3 pc's) all with different versions 2 32 bit and 1 64 bit. why is it that almost every 2 -3 months after using vista i get random errors and stuff like windows update stop working and get error messages. and the blue screens occur @ random points like trying to open up google chrome. dont tell me its my registry because on 3 all idfferent pc's with all diferent stuff it happens the exact same way. i hate reinstalling vista. just please...PLEASE. how in the crickey f*ck can my vista screw up so much. i dont do modding all i do is gaming, video editing and 3d modeling. 2 weeks ago i noticed my AAE crashed fer no reason and backthen my vista was fine but seems like now half my programs come up with errors. and its NOT A VIRUS. i ran like 4 different scaners which none show up. sigh... anyone help here?

You said it showed a blue screen, can you post the dumps? Just search .dmp in the start search menu then zip the dump file and upload here. That will more than likely fix your issues :)

I doubt that it is a virus either. its the natural fragmentation of the registry that comes with installing and deleting etc. do you run regular backups?

Could be a bad program or install disk. There is a common cause in all of those computers, and it is software related. Something he installed on those computers is crashing this.

If it is Adobe After Effects and if he has CS4, that might be a problem. I have CS4 and (knock on wood) all is well. But I've seen Vista folks that have had problems with CS4.

I agree. There is a thread on this forum about a CS4 incompatibility with Vista.

If thats the case then there's the problem. Could be that he got AAE from a torrent and the install wasn't malicious but its missing files. Not saying that's true, but its possible.

Its also possible that he has bad add ons, hard to tell tho without a dump. OP hasn't disclosed too much info about the system as far as software.

Have you had the same problem with all 3 PC`s? If so is there a piece of software that you ran on all 3 that is the same?
Upload your dump files as has been suggested.

how would i upload the dump files beacuse i serach .dmp and nothing shows up.
(of course) and also one of the other pc's i didnt have any adobe products but it still got screwed up. all 3 install disks were different. yes its CS4 but i never really had a problem with it until a couple weeks ago everything either becmae corrupt or unable to use

If you cant find a dump file there may not be one. sometimes if the BSOD occurs early enough in memory it crashes and doesnt record anything

yeah probably right. sigh looks like im going to have to just reinstall this piece of(not viewable for children under 40). again...... im just wondering... will windows 7 be any better?

If this is a software related issue, when you go to Windows 7 you might have the same problem. Might as well fix it now. I know my sentence has a lot of variables but hey, so does this issue.

List what some of the error codes are.
This will give us a starting point to try and fix it, dont reinstall Vista if all it is going to do is go wrong again, we will try to find the problem first. It may be something simple.

I really wish i could tell you what it is but im afraid i have no clue. i already re installed and im still feeling a bit weird about it. for soem reason now everytime my pc goes in hibernation or is left alone for a period of time it wont run setups and i have to restart :/
