Solved Start Menu links problem

Hello,

I have gone through the tutorial to replace the missing links to vista programs and it worked which is good but...

I noticed in my All Programs list yesterday that for some reason there were two folders named Programs and me thinking I must of duplicated it somehow deleted the one inside the other. Well it turned out I deleted all of the links to Vista programs as well as any program I had installed and had Start Menu shortcuts to.

Any way, besides manually creating shortcuts, to recreate these shortcuts?

I have tried searching deleted files with recovery programs but to no avail as well as tons of other suggestions on the internet from going into the registry to what you suggest.

Hello Ziofel, and welcome to Vista Forums.

I'm happy to hear that you restored your default Start Menu shortcuts. However, there is no way to restore the program shortcuts other than manually creating new shortcuts for them from the C:\Program Files folders and adding the shortcuts to the Start Menu, or reinstalling the programs.

Well that sucks but thanks LOL.

I think I am going to install Windows 7 and start fresh it probably is time anyways. Or maybe go Ubuntu hehehe.
