Can someone give me some advise ?

I have Vista Home Premium 64 and it is getting more and more sluggish with time and I can not find out what is going on. I have defragged, disk cleaned, checked for viruses, spyware, malware, and adware, but have not found anything.

I checked in the performance logs and I am getting a lot of warnings and errors.

Boot time averages around 237906 ms. some of the errors that I am getting involve the following; lsass.exe
explorer.exe
Wsearch
gpsvc
Profsvc
Windefend
SVChost.exe
TrustedInstaller.exe

All of these warnings are either booting errors or shutting down errors. Which may indeed be causing the whole system to be sluggish while opening and closing files. Man it takes forever to get anything done on this thing.

Does anyone have any idea's or know a place where I can start? I have already re-formatted the hard drive and re-installed Vista but I still get the same errors.

Thanks,
Glenn

scott

did you get these errors right after you re-installed vista, or after you re-installed the apps you normally use

Also we need you to fill in your system specs (lower left corner of your posts) so that we know what hardware you have.

Re: Can someone give me some advise ?

I have already formatted the HD and installed Vista for the third time.

I did not get any warnings with the original install. It all started after I got a virus and the computer crashed. I could not do anything with it so I formatted the drive and installed Vista again. Then I could do stuff with it but it was very slow, so I did a check error on the drive, checked for more viruses and everything was fine but just very very slow.

hc

I dont think its still a virus but a complete scan with acurrent AV would tell you for sure. I suggest Eset smart security, or microsoft security essentials

Re: Can someone give me some advise ?

I have Avira Antivirus and spyware detector installed, which originally found the virus so I don't think it is a virus anymore. I guess I will just have to live with it. I am out of idea's .

If you have formatted your hard drive, a virus would not persist.
