| Vista x64 Ultimate SP2, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 | Re: Paging File Hello Phillip, I would strongly advise to not disable the page file. Even if you had 24GB of RAM, some programs may still not run properly unless you had a page file. |

| Vista x64 Ultimate SP2, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 | Re: Paging File If he hasn't already, he can reduce the storage size that system restore uses for restore points to help a bit. System Restore - disk space .... and run the SP2 Disk Cleanup Tool. This will free up a few gigs of space. |

| Vista Home Premium 64bit SP2 | Re: Paging File some programs will ask for HUGE ammounts of memory on startup (whether they need it or not) On request windows will allocate these programs their desired ammount of memory from your pagefile. Disable your pagefile and you may find yourself running out of memory pretty quick also even if you have plenty your performance can drop quite dramatically. Ive also had some DEP errors thrown up on systems with no pagefile , programs just wont start , DEP blocks them as they start using memory thier not allocated , turn PF back on and all is well Leave the pagefile and leave it at system managed |
