Today when I restarted my computer this message came up on a black screen one of your disks needs to be checked for consistency. It ran a test didnt look like it found anything wrong. But can someone tell me what caused this? Its only happened twice and the first was well over a month ago and my computer is alittle over a year old.

That usually happens if there is a power loss while the pc is on. upon restart it wants to run Scan Disk to check for errors. It is normal, unless you got it randomly. Then you may have drive errors that ScanDisk attempted to fix but really doesnt show its results.

Well I had my laptop connected to its adapter. But I have been getting the message that the battery is near the end of its usable life. Is there any way I can check my computer for drive errors?

battery has nothing to do with chkdsk unless it failed. you check for drive errors by running checkdisk just like it was asking you to do. there are also 3rd party apps that will do the same
