Vista x64 bad Drivers causing PC to freeze (I think)

I have Vista Ultimate x64 with SP2 installed.

Full System Specs:
MotherBoard: Gigabyte EP45T-UD3R
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) Quad CPU Q8400 2.66GHz
RAM: 8 GB (4 x 2048 MB) DDR3 KINGSTON
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT
Hard Drive: 3 Sata Drives (2161 GB)
Optical Drive: LG DVDRAM GH22NS40 (SATA)
Power: 550 W

Before getting Vista 64, we did a test install with Ultimate x32 (had it running for 10 days) and everything seemed to work fine, but the Shop strongly recommended I get x64 in order to benefit fully from the Hardware installed.

Then the problems Started: PC freezes randomly I have yet to notice a common cause, Also I have a feeling PC was faster on x32.

I did notice the post screen listed the USBs as 1.0 (with Vista x32 i clearly remember they were listed as 2.0), also a few times I got a windows notification " USB can perform faster..." can't remember the exact message.
I went to the GiGabyte Website and downloaded the Vista x64 drivers (but there was no mention of USB)
the Chipset driver was older than the one i using so i did not update it.
I was unable to install the ICH9R/ICH10R (SATA RAID) drivers error was: "the computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing to software"
I did not download or install the Infineon TPM driver (since i have no idea what it is)

any help would be greatly appreciated

Hello braindead999,
The link below will explain the TPM driver and what it does.
When you in stalled the Vista x64, did you do a clean install with a format, or load it over the top of the Vista x32 as an upgrade ?.

thx for the link ill check it out.
i deleted the "partition" and installed fresh, come to think of it i had no other option the upgrade was "grayed" out, i figured you cant migrate from x32 to x64.

edit: i just read the explanation, and somehow it reminded of an old Project that i heard about in the early 2000's about a few companies working together to lock hardware and software a bit like Apple does, I cant remember the name of the group but i do remember some of the members and they are listed in the TPM, so unless TPM is crucial to the proper functioning of my PC i will not install it.

Edit2: PC froze again.
Programs running:
- firefox 3.53
- Kasperski 6.0.2.621 (included in Mother board CD) was performing a full system scan

You could try "msconfig" in search, go to startup and disable all your startup programs and try it, if all goes well, start enabling them one by one.
You can do that in services too, just "hide all Microsoft services" before you start.
Good luck and post your results.

Stoney has a good idea trying msconfig. after you try that and put it back to default, can you open task manager and check how much ram is free. when the freeze happens how much ram is left? Firefox tends to eat more and more ram (mine has gotten up to 480Mb).

thanks

Ken
