Help I Cant Download Anything On Vista

hello, i had windows xp like 5day ago and i upgraded it to windows vista (home basic) i got the upgrade from the shop.

now i got it, it will not let me download any thing from a cd or the net. when i try downloading it syas run, save, open and i click run and it gos to 100% but it dont download to my pc can some one help me

then you need to tell us more about the problem. are you using a download manager, what browser are you using, what does the errors (if any) say

ok i am just using IE7 and i cant download msn or java or anything theres no errors just says run i run goes to 100% and the ox gose and its not downloaded

using the buil in snipping tool (type snipping tool in search) can y ou take a screenshot and upload it to us. to upload you use the attachment icon (shaped like a paperclip) in the reply form

Now I have it. so you can download but windows finds a problem. What antivirus, what firewall? what folder do you download to?

Good idea but I cant read the screens. you saying you dont have the snipping tool?

if you type snipping tool in search nothing?

OK I still need to know how much ram, 32bit or 64, what browser, when did it start, what happened to make it start, etc

we really need more info

Instead of clicking on RUN, click on SAVE instead. Save it to your desktop, and see if you can run it from there instead.

tools/internet options/select the security tab

uncheck "enable protected mode" apply/ok etc

restart IE and try again

oh and while your there make sure your security settings are MEDIUM/HIGH you will notice this says unsigned active X controls will not be downloaded , your issue is exactly what would happen if the active X control was unsigned , Jave however is signed so the issue must lie elsewhere
